I had the pleasure and unique experience of attending an Ironman triathalon in Louisville,KY where my nephew, Garrett Johnson participated and completed the course in a very decent time. Swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles and then running 26.2 miles was such a miraculous achievment to watch as a spectator, each of those athletes have my complete respect. Tears frequently came to my eyes throughout the day, especially when I saw people in their 60's and 70's and even 80's competing against these young people in their prime.
It was also so nice to spend time with
Gus and Roseanne and Ariel, Garrett's fiance.
It was inspirational as well as fun. It seemed to me that we are all in a very long and difficult race here on earth, and at times we are the athletes needing spiritual nurishment and first aide while at other times we are the volunteers who are there to provide assistance for those who pass by us or who will reach out. We cannot let one another fail to reach the finish line!
